Department Function
The Programs Department, which includes Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”), is committed to providing high-quality, timely and relevant programs to both newly admitted and experienced attorneys with a reasonable price structure to serve the City Bar’s members and the profession-at-large. We offer a menu of various types of media for attorneys to update and continue their education in the law as well as earn required CLE credit in California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York. In addition to the 150 live programs and 75 video replays, we offer DVDs/CDs, online programs, live webcasts and CLE-On-The-Go by which programs are downloaded to handheld devices.

Job Function
The Director oversees a multimillion-dollar program by creating quality CLE and non-CLE programs, instituting a marketing strategy and implementing business systems and procedures. Collaborates with other departments of the City Bar as well as committees to develop strategy and implement programs.

Major Activities
·Work with committees and outside faculty to create, develop and oversee a calendar of CLE and non-CLE programs.

·Responsible for a multimillion-dollar budget, a significant revenue stream for the Association.

·Implement a marketing plan which includes obtaining sponsors, designing materials and promoting the program, all of which create a branding for our programs.

·Manage a large staff, including full and part-time employees. Encourage teamwork, open communication and professional development of the staff.

·Manage the work of outside vendors and consultants in a variety of areas, including regarding the printing and mailing of materials and distribution of books.

·Create and manage strategic partnerships with online companies to use our program content for live web casts and archived programs.

·Undertake joint ventures with other entities including law schools, trade associations, other bar associations and other professional associations.

·Contract with firms and in-house legal departments to purchase passports, providing attendance to programs in exchange for a flat fee.

·Investigate use of new technology options for management of program and for online programs.

·Maintain accreditation and where appropriate increase it (currently in the states of California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York).

Knowledge and Education:
JD strongly preferred.
At least 5 years legal conference planning, including business development of CLE programs and involvement in bar associations, preferred.
Salary range is commensurate with experience.
