AUSAs have the opportunity to represent the interests of the United States in the United District Court for the Southern District of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and, in performing this important public service, to exercise responsibility that is unparalleled in any other job that a litigator might undertake.  AUSAs immediately are assigned a challenging docket of cases in any of several units within each Division.


Qualifications

Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction) and have at least one to two years of post-J.D. experience; possess superior oral and written communication skills, as well as strong character, judgment, and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment. United States citizenship is required

Salary

Assistant United States Attorneys’ pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience.

Travel

Some travel both nation-wide and international may be necessary.
