MFY Legal Services 50th Anniversary Fellowship
Medical-Legal Partnership Serving Children with Disabilities
MFY Legal Services, Inc. (MFY), a non-profit legal services organization that provides free civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers, seeks applicants for its 50th Anniversary Fellowship to begin immediately. This is a two-year fellowship leading to a staff position at MFY at the conclusion of the Fellowship. The Fellow will develop a Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) with the child & adolescent psychiatric service of a local hospital to serve children with a range of mental and intellectual disabilities in special education matters, including advocacy, hearings and litigation; and to advise and provide representation to the children’s families about government benefits, including SSI/SSD benefits, health insurance benefits, SNAP, and other federal, state, and local benefits. The attorney will practice before administrative agencies and in state and federal court. The Fellow will be on-site at the hospital at least one day a week. As the project grows, the Fellow will recruit pro bono lawyers to assist in serving the children and their families.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Marriage Campaign Strategist will be part of an exciting interdisciplinary team that is focusing on reaching 20 states with the freedom to marry and increasing nationwide public support to 60% by 2016, in order to lay the foundation for a favorable Supreme Court ruling to win marriage nationwide.
The Marriage Campaign Strategist will report to the National Marriage Campaign Manager, and will work in partnership with state ACLU affiliates and coalition partners, to plan and organize winning state campaigns. The campaign team will use tactics such as lobbying, polling and message research, earned and paid media, targeted constituent outreach, voter persuasion and turnout, grasstops engagement and deployment, and mobilization of the one million members in the ACLU activist network.
• Plan and implement multi-state campaigns to win the freedom to marry in key states in partnership with ACLU affiliates and other coalition partners.

The Pace Women’s Justice Center is an independently-funded legal services center within Pace University School of Law, under the 501(c)(3) nonprofit status of Pace University. The Environmental Control Board ("ECB") is one of four administrative courts overseen by the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings ("OATH"). ECB conducts hearings based on violations issued by various NYC agencies against individuals and businesses for alleged violations of the City's laws and regulations. ECB conducts approximately 250,000 hearings each year, is comprised of over 300 employees, and operates offices in all five boroughs of the City.
ECB is seeking a creative, detail oriented, and experienced attorney to serve as its Executive Director. As the leader of a large and dynamic organization, it is essential that the Executive Director have substantial managerial experience and strong organizational abilities. Pro-activemanagement and creative problem solving are desirable skills. This position requires exceptional inter-personal and communication skills as well as strong writing and analytical abilities. The ability to perform data analysis is also required.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the ECB, serves as a Deputy Commissioner at the agency level, and reports directly to the Commissioner/Chief Judge of OATH. In this role, the Executive Director must ensure that all hearings are fair and timely, and that all operations of the court reflect OATH's values of excellence, professionalism, efficiency, transparency, and access to justice for all parties.
The tasks for which the Executive Director will be responsible include, but are not limited to: ensuring that decisions are legally sound and are issued within established time frames; managing attorneys and non-legal staff in accordance with the relevant codes of conduct, rules and regulations; setting and monitoring performance indicators; developing long and short term strategies that enhance operational and adjudicatory efficiency; preparing and implementing annual strategic initiatives; managing relationships with numerous NYC agencies and key stakeholders; utilizing technology to enhance the mission and goals of ECB; participating in monthly meetings of the ECB Board; and responding to media and public inquiries. The Executive Director will also oversee all of ECB's facilities to ensure an appropriate
environment for the hearings.
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least ten (10) years of substantive legal experience, and at least five (5) years of experience in a senior supervisory position.

PLEASE NOTE: New York City residency is required within 90 days of appointment. However, City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
