[2004] + December 10th - DBA partnered with the Dominican-American Professional Alliance to host First Annual Toy Drive. The event was free of charge and was held at Fashion 40 Lounge. Over 250 toys were collected to benefit Alianza Dominicana, Inc., one of the largest non-for-profit organizations in New York City. + December 18th - DBA joined forces with eight local bar associations to celebrate Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanza in style. Joint Bar Annual Holiday Party was held at the legendary Copacabana Nightclub in New York City. + October 5th - hosted a General Membership Meeting and Elections at Channel Thirteen/ WNET Offices. During the meeting, DBA’s bylaws were amended and the 2005 officers were elected. Special guests were representative of the bar association of the Dominican Republic. + October 12th - DBA co-hosted the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Annual Convention, “Unidos en Nueva York,” at the NY Marriott Marquis with the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens County. The convention was the most successful in the history of the HNBA. + October 26th - DBA held a Community Outreach Workshop: Family and Matrimonial Law at the Northern Manhattan Coalition For Economic Development Center in Washington Heights. The panelists were Peter Cedeno, Nestor Diaz, and Rita Mella. + May 13th - DBA celebrated its First Scholarship Dinner Dance in 2004 at New York Botanical Garden. Guests of Honor were The Honorable Robert T. Johnson (District Attorney, Bronx County), Mr. Nelson Castillo (Chair NY Region, Hispanic Bar Association), Ms. Altagracia Diloné Levat (Associate Dean of Public Affairs, NY Law School) and The Honorable Robert M. Morgenthau (District Attorney, NY County) |
