Founded by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, the Lawyers' Committee is one the nation's leading civil rights legal organizations and has as its principal mission engaging the private bar in pro bono matters regarding racial, national origin, and gender discrimination. From its inception, the Lawyers' Committee has recognized the importance of judicial independence in achieving our Constitution's promise of equal justice under law. Only a truly independent judiciary at both the state and federal level can address racial discrimination and ensure, through the rule of law, equal opportunities for minorities.

The Public Policy Associate supports the Public Policy Counsel and will be responsible for performing substantive research and writing in the area of judicial diversity. He/she will work to produce a report on judicial diversity and will coordinate with the Public Policy Counsel on the substance, design, distribution and release of the Report.
