Dear Members and Friends!!

I am extremely honored and excited to serve as DBAs President for 2012.

I have been an active member of the DBA for almost a decade. I first learned of its existence through my prior employer, Roberto Laracuente, Esq. One of the many things I learned from him was to involve myself in organizations such as DBA to further its mission. DBA has been instrumental in promoting free legal services to our communities in need, in providing scholarships to our deserving Latino law students, in the selection of Dominican American and Latino Judges, and working with other organizations to provide legal services to our residents in need.

As President I am devoted to the organizations mission. I hope that all DBAs Members and Friends help me in this continued journey to raise membership and to continue to be great examples to our youth. Our youth is the foundation of our success and we need to continue to nurture them as we were.

This year I hope to increase the young lawyers membership and participation to ensure that they are aware of the resources available to help them achieve success in our profession. As of 1970 there were only 100 Latino attorneys in the entire State of New York and that has substantially changed, especially since our founding in 1990 DBA has faithfully discharged its duties and will continue its mission.

In achieving the goals of our organization, we want to encourage all of you to attend our many activities and events. Dont forget, that you, our members and friends, are what has helped DBA to achieve its mission since 1990 and continuing into the year 2012 and beyond.

Please check our website weekly for new updates and events in this upcoming year.

Yours truly,

Bianka Perez-Vega, President
